FARFETCH Beauty Launches World of Jawara

An intimate and memorable tour of the people and moments that led Jawara Wauchope to be one of the most acclaimed high-fashion hairstylists in the industry

Reminiscing about his childhood in Jamaica, Jawara remembers sitting for hours in his aunt’s hair salon. The space served as an “ecosystem of life” where the hairstylist learned about the beauty of Black hair. Today, he is one of the most sought-after names in fashion. 

Since discovering hairstyle at age six, Jawara has collaborated with some of the most influential women in entertainment, working with female powerhouses, including FKA Twigs, Solange, and Beyoncé. The hair connoisseur creates gravity-defining structures using his knowledge and manipulation of different hair textures.

His innovative approach to hairstyling has earned him a long list of editorial and runway credits and, most recently, a coveted spot on FARFETCH’s Beauty Global Collective—a social network to communicate and engage with beauty experts and founders.

Yesterday on FARFETCH Beauty, the Beauty Global Collective launched World of Jawara, a look inside Jawara’s past as he reflects on the memories that inform his inspiring and acclaimed approach to styling Black hair.
