As part of Ukrainian Fashion Week 2026–2027, 40 Ukrainian brands are preparing to take to the runway in Kiev, showcasing more than just their collections—they are demonstrating their will to exist. This season, fashion is much more than an aesthetic display: it is a stance, a resistance, and a message officially left for the future.
While fashion weeks continue at full speed around the world, this calendar has never been “normal” for Ukraine. Producing fashion in an atmosphere of full-scale war creates a reality that is impossible to fully empathize with from the outside for designers, models, and all actors in the industry. Bringing a collection to life is more than just a creative process; it is also an ethical, logistical, and deeply emotional challenge. Despite all these conditions, the persistence of fashion transforms the runway into a space for expression while also becoming a stage for collective memory.

In this context, sustainability cannot be pushed to the background. Ukrainian designers’ focus on sustainability and innovative production practices is one of the most prominent common threads this season. Upcycling, recycling, zero-waste production, responsible material use, and new technologies form the core themes of FW26–27. The Art of Fashion: Sustainable Innovations exhibition at Mystetskyi Arsenal reinforces the backbone of this approach. The exhibition reveals how Ukrainian designers are redefining fashion around responsibility and innovation, constructing a multi-layered narrative that extends beyond the runway. Social responsibility is also brought to the forefront with the Faces of Heroes initiative. This project, which aims to support veterans with facial injuries, brings fashion directly into a human context.
Beyond all this, Ukrainian Fashion Week transforms fashion into a form of cultural diplomacy. On an international stage, Ukrainian designers do not simply present clothes; they articulate endurance, memory, and hope. In every silhouette and material choice, Ukraine’s creative industries assert their right to exist, evolve, and imagine a future—despite everything.
