The latest Dolce&Gabbana collection is audacious. How can a menswear line with pieces like sweeping leopard print trenches and faux-fur lapels not be? A gallant take on the dual facets of high-profile celebrity, the collection plays up both the public and private sides of cinema icons. Its title, “Paparazzi,” even stems from Frederico Fellini’s 1960 film, La Dolce Vita, in which a hedonistic tabloid journalist, Marcello, philanders around Rome for a week. Each look tells the story of an actors’ lifestyle, split into two chapters, from dawn to dusk. The prying eyes of the paparazzo never rest.

For the first half of the show, thoughtful layering and effortless charm delineate the daytime feature of a superstar on the run. “Look! He goes to the grocery store too!” And he does. Just in a denim jacket lined in faux-fur. Or in a faux-fur trench layered, always over his lackadaisically loose sweatpants. Soft lines and oversized cuts are accentuated by pleated trousers. Utilitarian style cargo pants hint functionality, while the classic tank top and white tee serve as blank canvases under lavish prints. Each piece is deliberately simplified, showcasing the versatile character of a staple in its purest form.

Onto the denouement, a selection of lustrous touches distinguish the collection’s evening wear. Blazers with wide lapels are shrouded in faux-fur. Suits embody the label’s timeless elegance, as a darker palette of blacks and greys betray the onset of wickedly playful twilight. After all, night is the other half of life. Maybe even the better one.

And there is more faux-fur. Trenches and bombers, collars and hoods. They’re drenched in the stuff. The fur-free alternative truly stands as the collection’s most daring touch. And there’s a lot of it.

For Dolce&Gabbana’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection, it’s the era of La Dolce Vita. Revel and seduce, dream and play. But never forget, in the world of glitz and glam, a deceitful Marcello is never far behind.

Just smile and wave, boys, smile and wave.
