Streamlined silhouettes bring the focus to the beauty of the human body in FENDI’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Kim Jones, FENDI’s Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, envisioned luxe futuristic garments that only FENDI could deliver. The show consisted of looks that could be straight out of the chicest of sci-fi movies with cutting edge design and techniques that make the viewer reimagine what clothing can be. If this is what the future has in store, please take us there now.

The show began with an introduction of a new, ‘Scatola’ (translating to box in Italian) silhouette the house has conjured up which keeps the dress simple and elegant with precise lines and careful structure. Multiple looks that follow adhere to simplicity but won’t fail to turn heads as the innovative designs, sumptuous materials used, and extraordinary attention to detail will still leave jaws dropped. Looks become more and more lavish as the show progresses with crocodile jackets and dresses, large fringed coats, and intricately sequined garments showcasing the level of skill and talent FENDI possesses. As the collection graduates to full length gowns that glide on the runway, lending the models an otherworldly appearance, the pieces begin to vary in levels of embellishment and shine, but all still stun regardless.

The eyewear steals glances on the runway as models don futuristic glasses that redefine what eyewear is supposed to look like. These glasses will be modified for the individual through facial scans to determine measurements and the buyer deciding if they should be sunglasses, prescription, or a fashion statement. The eyewear falls under FENDI’s fine jewelry as the house uses 18k white gold and white diamonds to create a pair of glasses unlike any other. Bags also have their moment on the runway as the abundance shown came in all different styles and sizes. The iconic Baguette bag was the prominent style and all of the bags complemented the corresponding looks with varying levels of adornment and matching materials from crocodile to fringe. Any woman carrying one of these couture Baguette bags will be showcasing an astonishing piece of fashion history on her arm.
