Backstage at FENDI’s Fall/Winter 2020 Collection

A femme fatal theme was alive and well at FENDI’s fall/winter show.

For FENDI’s Fall/Winter 2020-2021 collection, creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi explored powerful femininity by fusing boudoir and boardroom. With a perfect balance of structure and softness, the collection is a nod to today’s women, who are both sincere and playful.

Contrasting fur, leather, cashmere, and lace, FENDI brought elegance and modernity to the collection. Pieces like tailored wool outerwear with a cinched waist and accordion skirts made of leather proved the line’s inspiration. Bibbed blouses and voluptuously shaped sweaters counter the strictness of nurse’s collars and corsets finely detailed with satin and felt. Between the boldness of leopard spots in brushed wool outerwear, fringed beads, and neon Chantilly lace, the collection was unobtrusive yet provocative.

Accessories blissfully topped the collection off, as the Baguette bag appeared in handknit wool and shopping bags got a leather twist while charms inspired by vintage FENDI packaging dazzled alongside. ‘Tech jewelry’ for any device was also featured in the line’s accessories, as FENDI collaborated with London-based accessory brand Chaos designed by Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall.
