Ever since Salvatore Ferragamo created the cowboy boots for the film The Covered Wagon nearly 100 years ago in 1923, the brand’s distinct aesthetic remains anchored in the Hollywood history and Western style that remains so integral to their foundation. Ferragamo’s Pre-Fall 2023 wardrobe is no exception, as creative director Maximillian Davis discreetly adopts these classic style tropes to create a collection focused around clean cuts and versatile denim that marry this foundation with modern styles.

Incorporated throughout the collection, denim, pocket detailing and gingham prints meet Ferragamo’s minimalist silhouettes, discreetly adding a western flare to the pieces. A simplistic color palette of red, white, green and denim allow the clothing to take center stage, as retro patterns and long denim jackets with distinct tailoring reference past Ferragamo collections. New interactions of the Ferragamo bag with cut-out details and seasonal variants of the iconic Wanda handbag also appear in the collection, acting as timeless totems of the new age of Ferragamo.

“I want to explore what contemporary essentials are, from denim to evening wear,” explains Davis. “To take classic pieces in the everyday wardrobe and twist or subvert them with textures and materials that make them feel more modern, more playful and more unexpected.”

Captured by photographer Tyler Mitchell, the campaign images for the collection reframe the high-octane glamor of Hollywood with relaxed, modern ease.  “Tyler is someone who I’ve grown up with; we’re part of the same community and we’ve always spoken about collaborating,” explains Davis. “There’s a simplicity and elegance to his work and the way that he captures people; a laid-back clarity which is never forced.”

In conjunction with Mitchell’s images, Ferragamo’s designs present a new Ferragamo – but one not without the retro inspiration that has defined the brand. This new Ferragamo pays homage to its origins and comes to life in a way never before seen.
