Filip Custic is a visionary multidisciplinary artist redefining the boundaries of photography, performance, sculpture, and video art. Born in 1993 in Croatia, Custic crafts an otherworldly aesthetic that delves into the tangled intersections of identity, technology, and self-perception in the digital age. With his signature use of mirrors, screens, and hyper-surreal visuals, he holds up a distorted lens to the world—inviting viewers to interrogate the nature of image-making and connection in an era ruled by algorithms and avatars.

At once cerebral and sensorial, Custic’s work is a bold meditation on what it means to exist in an increasingly synthetic reality. His latest projects only deepen this exploration, cementing his place as one of the most compelling artistic voices interrogating the new frontiers of selfhood and perception.

His latest creation is a radiant celebration of identity, diversity, and unbridled creativity. Featuring celestial, angelic forms, the work casts Samantha Hudson, Lola Rodríguez, and Olvido in dual embodiments—otherworldly yet deeply human, ethereal yet grounded in purpose.

Following a conversation with V about the inspiration behind the project, Custic shares his reflections below.

“The name of this triptych is: dual <3. theses images show my nowcore. i’ve done a lot of maximalism in the past. here i wanted to play with liminal minimalism. i‘ve portrayed these 3 muses: lola, olvido and rubí. i learn a lot about identity and gender through them. i wanted to materialize this info through these pics. rubí rubí has an hypnotic face. what is she thinking ? she is so whimsical. have i used ai? this is the first time i’ve use it more deeply. it helped to polish the result and speed up some steps. hair selection in photoshop ins’t very joyful. now the experiment has improved. it makes me enjoy some other steps of the creative process. BUT censorship is very present so i was not allowed to play with it freely. lola: i saw her for the first time acting in veneno (series). her aura was so beautiful. i connected immediately. i wanted to portrait human duality. what’s our relationship with our own duality ? sometimes loving. sometimes destructive. always connected. olvido: she is so magnetic. bella y nostálgica. olvido brought last minute this beautiful antique : mantón de manila. i wanted to experiment with body possibilities. body optical effects. is there 1 body , 2 o more ? it looks natural but impossible. swords? swords are lessons.”
