How would you describe your style?
My style is LA-meets-New York. I'd say I dress boho / grunge chic with western influence. I'm really into fringe, suede, leather, lace and denim on denim on denim.
What is one book you recommend everyone read?
The one book I recommend anyone reads (especially for people around my age) is called The Defining Decade by Meg Jay. It's one of my favorites of all time. It's about your twenties being the absolute most important years of your entire life and how to make the most of them. It takes real life stories about work, relationships, social networking and explains how all of these things develop our minds and change the most during our twenty-something years. What many people don't know about me is that I was Mental Health Studies minor at New York University and I'm super intrigued with the psychology of others.
In 2016, I was most inspired by:
2016 was filled with a lot of tragedy, hate and heart break. There have been far too many senseless shootings and killings that have made this a really emotional and sad year for me. However, as a result, I've been so inspired by the ability to see humans band together in a united and desperate cause to spread love and positive energy. The way the LGBT community in particular around the world came together after Orlando seriously inspired me. It's been a reminder that there is hope; it's been a beautiful thing to witness that even in tragic times there is still love deep down in the roots.
The best film I saw this year was....
Either Carol or The Danish Girl. Admittedly, I'm always a little late on popular films, but I was intrigued by both of these ahead of The Academy Award recognition. I'm a sucker for extraordinary love stories, which both of these were. Even more so, I admired how courageous and confident these art pieces were. Both of these films shared stories that were very progressive for the eras in which they were set.
I'm currently listening to...
It's been really cool to see my peers rise up with me like Emily Warren (who wrote The Chainsmokers "Don't Let Me Down" and features on Frenship's "Capsize") and Maggie Rogers (the artist behind viral hit "Alaska") so I'm always listening to them. But I've also been super into major breakthrough acts of 2016 like Hey Violet, Jon Bellion, Terror Jr, and Dua Lipa.
If I could have any superpower...
It would be the ability to transport myself. Like the ability to just snap my fingers and be where I need or want to be in a matter of seconds. How nice would it be if you could just clap your hands and be showered, dressed and where you need to be exactly on time whenever you want? I need to find a way to be on time more often.
