The album announcement comes off the heels of Finneas’s signing to Interscope Records, where he’s now a labelmate to his younger sister, Billie Eilish.

The eight-time grammy-award winning songwriter and producer is best known for his ability to churn out albums for his sister, Billie Eilish. But Finneas has an entire catalog of collaborations on chart-topping hits for many of Hollywood’s most famous acts. From Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me” to JP Saxe and Julia Michaels’ “If The World Was Ending” and Ashe’s “Moral of The Story,” Finneas is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to both penning and producing many of today’s biggest hits in pop music.

Fans and critics alike are eager to see Finneas prove himself and his abilities as a lead singer with his debut album. If the album’s lead single is any indication of what we should expect from the album, though, it seems like Finneas will surpass all expectations.

“A Concert Six Months From Now” is a heart-wrenching pop-rock ballad about a tumultuous on-again-off-again relationship. In the song, Finneas reflects about the ups and downs that accompany his optimism about such a relationship, ending with a wary invitation to his lover to reunite at “a concert, six months from now.” The heartfelt confessional track demonstrates the songwriter’s lyrical prowess and unearths an incredibly vulnerable performance that could only come from Finneas himself.

The “A Concert Six Months From Now” music video, directed by Sam Bennett, is a chilling reminder of the loneliness and devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the video Finneas stumbles through the entirely vacant Hollywood Bowl venue, where he performs the song to a non-existent audience. It’s a heavy-hearted performance that captures the emptied optimism of the track’s lyrics.

Finneas’s first single has definitely set the bar high for the rest of the album. His track record has essentially set the precedent for his debut’s massive success. Hopefully, the release in October will live up to the reputation Finneas has already built himself.
