In full bloom.
In full bloom.

There’s an element of fantasy rooted in the scent of Gucci’s latest fragrance, Bloom. It conjures up feelings of embracing the warmth of a golden twilight, while being induced into a dream-like state that evokes pure floral euphoria. “Flowers. Flowers. Flowers… and more flowers.” Hari Nef describes it. It’s a feminine dream that transcends generations.
That is Alessandro Michele’s gift—giving us moments, emotions and intoxicating imagery that transcends you into another time or place. At the core, this is Michele’s design philosophy for Gucci and he’s masterfully embodied his aesthetic with his first fragrance for Gucci. Keeping in line with the famed Italian house Michele has tapped model and muse Hari Nef for his collections and now for his fragrance campaign.
The Gucci woman makes her own rules. “I feel like the fragrance is an amazing articulation of the new Gucci because of its inability to be defined in such clear terms. Therefore, it lends itself to celebrating individuality.” Nef went on to say, “It’s not about a type of man or woman for [Michele]. It’s not about one silhouette. It’s not about one reference. He brings in things from all over the world, from every time period. He’s not afraid to reference. I think he gives anybody looking to buy into the Gucci universe, every ingredient they need to create a look or vibe that is individual to them. It all happens to be Gucci, but there’s so much diversity in what he does, I feel like the duality of the scent and its resistance to easy definition is something that allows it to be relevant to a wide variety of not just women but of people. I think men should wear Gucci Bloom.”
When Nef made her debut onto the scene, it was easy to adore her style, charm and wit. Between being the first transgender model to be represented by IMG, her role in the amazon series, Transparent, she has continued to rise to the occasion when given the opportunity to represent the LGBTQ community.
With two films shot this year, currently filming a new television show and a top secret project in the works that calls for the duality of her talents of acting and writing – Nef is ready to reveal a deeper side of her artistry. “I am blooming and in the process of blooming. I’m 24 years old. So I think anybody in my position has to feel that way in one point. But I definitely feel like I’m getting closer to where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to be doing and I’m so excited. There are ups and there are downs. There are highs and there are lows. All in all, I do feel like my life is becoming more and more beautiful. And I’m also able to see beauty more and more in places that I haven’t been able to see. I feel like Bloom as a word, as an idea as a gesture is relevant to my life.” Nef is bound for greatness and with her beauty that radiates it’s clear her rosy outlook on life is the perfect metaphor for a fragrance in full bloom.
