For the Love of the Game: Lacoste Releases the ‘Slam Break’ Sneaker

With roots deeply planted in the tennis world, the French sportswear brand follows up their latest campaign with two new sneaker releases
Sports have been undeniably different since social media was introduced as the cultural center point for communication. Brand-new concepts like “tunnel looks,” the outfits NBA and NFL players wear as they walk to their locker rooms, have altered how athletes are understood as public figures. And the world of tennis is no different. Players like Naomi Osaka have graced the covers of countless magazines, and the outfits worn by celebrities in the stands are now the subject of fashion journalism nationwide.
This is where Lacoste comes in. The French label was named after a tennis player, made for a tennis player, and then sold to the broader fashion world. Though fashion and sports are intersecting more now than ever, Lacoste has occupied this niche since the 1930s, and the brand shows no sign of straying from its roots.

Following the exclusive launch of the ‘Slam Break Premium,’ with a campaign fronted by French tennis star Arthur Fils, Lacoste brings the ‘Slam Break,’ a sneaker for tennis players and viewers alike. In two unique colors and constructions, the Slam Break builds on the brand’s legacy beyond the game of tennis itself, but also in its palette and materials.
In one construction, a refined leather upper is paired with the brand’s iconic green and the ever-so-cleanly embroidered crocodile. The other sneaker, a dark-chocolate brown, sports ripstop mesh throughout, with metal eyelets and soft suede overlays. Both sneakers are now available for men and women.
