Frank Ocean To Headline Coachella…In 2023

Ocean was originally set to perform at Coachella in 2020.

Frank Ocean is slated to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2023, the Los Angeles Times reports. The artist was originally set to co-headline the 2020 edition of the event along with Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott, but after the festival had to be rescheduled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ocean wasn’t available for the new spring 2022 dates.

Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett told the Times that, while it’s unusual for the festival organizers to reveal the lineup this early, he wants to provide fans with some reassurance about the experience they’re paying for. “Right now, it’s the Wild West,” he said. “I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually they get to see everyone that we talked about.”

Ocean’s Coachella gig had been long anticipated by fans, especially considering how live performances by the artist have become “a rare commodity,” as the Times describes them. He previously performed at the festival in 2012 and did a memorable show at the 2017 FYF Festival, which Tollett called “phenomenal.”

The 2022 Coachella is scheduled for April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Travis Scott and Rage Against the Machine will both headline the festival, and a third headliner will be announced soon.
