Futuristic Allure: Richard Quinn SS23

Quinn pays homage to the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

Step aside, Richard Quinn is coming through. Here to encase London Fashion Week, the Spring 2023 collection of the textile maestro and womenswear wizard Richard Quinn graced the runway paying homage to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Having only recently passed away after 70 years proudly reigning as queen, her royal highness has left her imprint on everything under the sun. Though, for Quinn, her disembarkment is rather personal mourning as she attended his debut show for his eponymous label earlier in 2018. Sparking a match to his career as a designer and creative director, she gifted him the first Queen Elizabeth II Award for Design. Therefore in awe of her grace and kindness, Quinn dedicated his resort collection in homage to the late ruler.

In a varied palette of alluring hues – vibrant pink, violet, bright pastels, and monochromes – Quinn encapsulates the fresh and ultramodern through bold aesthetics. The collection emulates magnetic futurism with dramatic silhouettes and intricately crafted textile fabrications. Traditional English dresses are reconstructed and layered in tunics and veils by reimagining the queen’s essence through a monochrome lens. A jet-black crown is seen on one look. Ultimately, a model wears a bridal gown accompanied by a white veil and an astounding bouquet of flowers overflowing down the garment.
