Gap x Awake NY Brings ‘90s Streetwear to the Gap Archives

With styles for adults and kids, the collection celebrates inclusivity
The new Gap x Awake NY collaboration is rooted in ‘90s streetwear.
Angelo Baque, Queens native and Founder of Awake NY, infused beloved styles from the Gap archives with New York sensibility. Launching March 27, the collection includes sweats, utility wear, tees, denim, and accessories, all featuring a nostalgic flare.

“Growing up in Queens in the ’90s, Gap was part of the everyday uniform — democratic, effortless, and for everyone,” Baque said in a statement. “This collaboration is about honoring that era of New York — the creativity, the diversity, the families and communities that shaped how we dressed and expressed ourselves. Partnering with Gap, and its global scale and reach, allows us to bring that New York energy to audiences everywhere. Reinterpreting Gap’s icons through the lens of Awake NY brings it full circle.”

Established in 2012, Awake NY has centered itself around New York’s culture and creativity. Its collaboration with the iconic American brand adds vibrancy to modern wardrobe essentials. Logo and heavyweight GapSweats fleece receive new graphic treatments, adopting Awake NY’s timeless signatures. Denim sets are reimagined in polka dot patterns and cargo silhouettes.
The collection features styles for adults and kids, celebrating family and cross-generational bonds. New York-based creatives appear in the campaign, including Baque and his family, Potluck Club co-owner Cory NG, the team behind Frenchette, and artists Planta Industrial. A message of togetherness carries through the imagery.
