In Get Lit, we sit down with authors and creatives to hear about their favorite books du jour. Today we speak with Amanda de Cadenet, whose illustrious career includes fashion photography, her own talk show, and founding a female-focused multimedia company championing young female artists—#GirlGaze—and on top of all that, is finally releasing her hotly anticipated first book, It's MessyWe spoke to the multi hyphenate about some of the books that inspired her collection of essays, out September 19.

Sex Object by Jessica Valenti

"Jessica is one of my favorite feminist writers. When I was writing my book It's Messy, this book gave me permission to write the chapter 'It's Not Ok' and discuss my own experiences with sexual abuse. She wrote so fearlessly about her sexual experiences that it opened my eyes to how an author could share her experiences so openly."

Inside Her Pretty Little Head by Jane Cunningham and Philippa Roberts

"This book is a study done on the difference between marketing to men and women and the different emotional responses that women have to product purchasing and marketing. It's fascinating!"

Facing Love Addiction by Pia Mellody

"This is an insightful book for anyone who has had a difficult love relationship, like I have. If you are someone who thinks you are afflicted with unhealthy attachments to the people you're in a relationship with, this is the book for you."
