Something Wicked this way comes—and it’s the highly anticipated premiere of the new film based on the hit Broadway show. Building the excitement of the film’s release in theaters on November 22nd, the stars of the buzzy new musical film have been making a splash with their recent press tour looks at their various stops around the world, including Tony Award-nominated actor and singer Ethan Slater.
Starring in the film as Boq Woodsman, a Munchkin in love with the character of Galinda (played by pop icon and V alum Ariana Grande), the actor attended the Los Angeles premiere this past weekend dressed head-to-toe in New York-based designer Thom Browne. Styled by Jason Rembert with grooming by Andrea Pezzillo, Slater’s look consisted of a classic tuxedo with a velvet Elphaba-inspired green jacket, serving as a nod to the film’s green vs pink color scheme. But before the actor hit the carpet, VMAN was there to witness his getting ready process for a closer inspection at the dapper look.
Below, discover Ethan’s full getting-ready diary for the Wicked Los Angeles premiere!
“Andrea and I getting hair ready.”
“While the Thom Brownes got lined up, shoes first.”
“Then tux, with the emerald green jacket.”
“And bow tie.”
“Just enough of Boq’s school uniform look for an opening night at Shiz University. (I play Boq Woodsman, the munchkin, in Wicked)”
“Checking in to make sure I’m not *too* early.”
“Jason Rembert and I feeling good about our look”
“I was told not to pose like this, but I did, and I’m including the picture because I like it.”
“People taking pictures of me is always a crazy feeling.”
“And me taking pictures with people is similarly strange. (The Wicked fans I’ve met at our premieres are the best)”
“The night felt like a dream one might have if you fell asleep inside a tornado. But fortunately, I have yet to wake up.”
