Gigi Hadid Teams Up With Frankies Bikinis for Summer-Ready Collection
The dreamy, beach-ready 98-piece collection invokes peaceful images of rural and beach life.
From snapping polaroids together on Malibu beaches during their teenage years to teaming up for an all new swimwear collection, Gigi Hadid and Frankies Bikinis founder Francesca Aileo have come full circle with their delicate, nature-inspired Gigi x Frankie collection.
Spending their latter teenage years in the California beach town, Hadid and Aileo nurtured a bond marked by a love for the outdoors. “Gigi is someone that is so special and so inspiring to me,” Aiello said in a statement released to the press “She is creative, hard working, kind and loving, and combining those incredible personality traits with our deep rooted friendship is what really made this collection not only fun to create together but also to shoot together.”
Also referencing time spent on Hadid’s family farm in Pennsylvania, the collection is packed full of dreamy, delicate swimwear. Muted hues and airy motifs fill the 98-piece swimwear and loungewear collection while playful ruffles and bows harken back to the duo’s childhood days.
Too, the collection boasts a subtle reference to Hadid’s new motherhood journey. The ‘fawn’ print—featured on an eggshell yellow cropped t-shirt—displays a child and mother deer interacting, representing the heartwarming mother-daughter bond Hadid is experiencing. High-cut printed one piece suits, ultra-short ruffled bottoms, and strappy bikini sets dominate the collection and are sure to dazzle throughout the warmer months.
Photographed by the pair’s long-time friend Alana O’Herlihy, the accompanying campaign embodies the airy, nostalgic feel of the collection and serves as a nod to pair’s surf chick background as well as Hadid’s rural East coast escape. The collection will be released in two drops, May 11 and June 2, and will feature sizes XS-XXL.
“We designed this collection with so much love, and I believe that really shines through in the details,” Hadid said of the collaboration. “Both Frank and I have very social lives but also are big homebodies, and the collection really embodies that side of us.”
