A pinnacle of structured fashion, Giorgio Armani presents a nuanced, poised Autumn/Winter ‘21 Collection, embedded in the psychology of dressing.

In a sleek black room populated by a single green resin gorilla, the Armani show commences to a fast-paced beat—the life-size gorilla, representing the Armani household and an element of domesticity from the designer’s home in Milan, is a stagnant and nuanced symbol amongst a flurry of dark neutrals and crisp cuts.

The Italian fashion house is self-assured and confident, the portrait of an elevated contemporary man and woman. Garments are midnight black and ivory white, shades of midnight blue interspersed between: the image of regality and sophistication, formalwear brought into the everyday scene.

Across the collection are refined embellishments and contrasting silhouettes, creating the perfect balance between light and dark, intimate and exaggerated. The nuances of clothing and how garments are worn are indicated in natural styling, a series of pieces that can be mixed and matched to adapt to the modern lifestyle. Glimpses of leather and satin are submerged in the sea of natural hues, pieces that are elevated and refined, made for the moment.

Armani, through the diversity of the collection, has created an entirely new look for the wearer, one both elegant and playful, sophisticated and relaxed. Where there are sharp cuts, there are also ruffles; where there are sleek, sharp looks, there are also billowing trousers and hints of chrome, garments that don't take themselves too seriously yet are, by their nature, earnestly structured and firmly voguish.

Standout pieces of the collection include a floor-length charcoal overcoat with puffed shoulders and a cascade of blue ruffles in the place of lapels, the new peacoat; a pair of silky, wide-legged trousers with a statement drawstring; and a simply cyan vest, fastened by one hook and dotted like the midnight sky, white stars speckling it's surface—a reminder of the lasting beauty and divinity of Armani's latest collection.
