Giuseppe Zanotti Reimagines Footwear Icons

In the first of multiple drops from the archives, the Italian fashion house reimagines its iconic serpentine Venere stiletto.

Even though the holidays are low-key this year, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dress up. Although Zanotti’s Icons may be timeless, style is steadfast—and with the new Giuseppe Zanotti Icons initiative from the luxury Italian footwear designer, some of the House’s most iconic styles will return for a new generation.

“Icons” draws out selected styles from the archives, pieces embodying the structural craft and mastery of Giuseppe Zanotti. The House will re-issue these standout shoes, paying tribute to the legacy of the iconic styles while gifting contemporary wearers a twist on beloved classics.

“My approach to design has always been about pushing forward and creating new worlds and fantasies,” said Giuseppe Zanotti. “Yet, at the same time, two decades on I was compelled to share some of my most revered creations and give the new generation a chance to experience their beauty.”

The “Venere” style—Italian for “Venus”—stands as the first to return from the archives. With a sky-high, delicate silhouette, the knockout stiletto made its debut in the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection. Detailed with an organic, sinuous gold accessory that winds around the ankle and slithers up the foot like a snake, the stiletto is returning in three schemes: a black suede sandal with gold hardware, a black and red suede sandal with silver hardware, and a black suede flat with gold hardware.

An icon shoe within itself, the Venere has been worn by icons of our own popular culture, too, including Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Anja Rubik, and more.

The reimagined Venere is “a fusion between a serpent and a woman’s body,” according to Giuseppe.

Elegant and powerful, the Venere is available exclusively at giuseppezanotti.com and in select Giuseppe Zanotti flagships. Heels retail for $1795 USD while flats retail for $1695 USD.

“Far from nostalgic, this project is a fresh chance to write an exciting new story,” said Giuseppe. “These are my icons and icons transcend seasons and trends.”
