First introduced for Spring/Summer 2004, the Italian brand’s Slim sandal stood apart for its sensuality and wit. The design was sparked by an unexpected source, a dinner at the restaurant Slim where Giuseppe Zanotti traced the outline of a fishbone on the tablecloth. That spontaneous sketch would evolve into one of his most recognizable creations, a sandal that turned a discarded object into something precious and sought after.

The Slim’s place in pop culture was sealed shortly after when Sex and the City’s Samantha Jones appeared in the sandal, and little else, in the now-famous sushi scene. Its slender silhouette and jeweled motif embodied a kind of confidence that defined the era: playful, self-assured, and slightly irreverent.

Now, more than twenty years later, the Slim returns. After celebrating the brand’s 30th anniversary in 2024 with the revival of the Ring sandal, Giuseppe Zanotti looked back through his archives and found himself drawn again to the Slim. “It’s one of my favorites,” he says. “It represents that instant when an idea appears by chance but stays with you forever.”

For 2025, the reissue retains its distinctive fishbone embellishment but introduces a pointed-toe sole and comes in both a 105 mm stiletto and flat sandal. Crafted in mirrored leather and fine crystal detailing, it is sleeker, lighter, and sharper in proportion, with the same sense of allure viewed through a contemporary lens. The launch will take place mid-October, accompanied by sketches, creative visuals, and behind-the-scenes imagery that trace the design’s evolution.
