Givenchy Debuts ‘Teaser’ Capsule Collection by Matthew M. Williams

This will be the creative director’s first collection for the House.

Givenchy dropped a new capsule collection this Tuesday, Dec. 1st. The “Teaser” batch features an edited selection from the Spring-Summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection, marking creative director Matthew M. Williams’ first collection for the House. Expect playful and effortlessly elegant looks for both women and men.

Inspired by his love of hardware, Williams designed a series of t-shirts and sweaters with 3D chain details and loops that clasp together over the famous “Givenchy” lettering.

The collection includes directional pieces that emphasize new tailoring for women and denim adorned with sophisticated treatments, giving them a crackled or lustrous look. For more statement pieces, look out for the croc-print calfskin midi lightweight coat and croc-print leather windbreakers.

The iconic “4G” logo is featured all over a denim-like jacquard and also makes a discreet appearance on the lining of a single-breasted jacket. There is also an unexpected nod to the Antigona bags with classic-fit trousers with metallic details and shirts with zip-and-snap locks.

Givenchy’s urban spirit shines through an oversized parka in a technical ottoman that is both elegant and functional, in addition to hoodies and sweatshirts decorated with recently restyled Givenchy logos.

Williams also developed new distinctive hardware for this season’s essential bags. The Antigona bag, made in black box leather, features dual Givenchy signatures, longer handles, and a “4G” padlock. The collection also includes two cross-body bags, the Vertical mini with chain, and the Antigona U.

The Lock ankle boot, the Marshmallow wedge slide for women and flat sandal for men, and the GIV 1 high-performance sneakers with a transparent sole, available in black or white, are also part of this collection. Accessories include a hard-to-miss flat cap with horns and a black leather belt with a G-chain buckle.

The “Teaser” capsule collection will be available between Dec. 1st and 22nd and will premiere exclusively in seven Givenchy stores across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., and on the House’s website in selected countries. In the U.S., it will be available both online and at the Miami boutique. The official SS21 collection is expected to drop worldwide on Feb. 26, 2021.
