Matthew M. Williams departing Givenchy Pre-Fall 2024 Women’s and Men’s collection is a continued ode to the Maison’s philosophy; combining the ease of dressing with an exploration of formality, as seen on the runway.

Ideas are pulled from house codes, with Hubert de Givenchy’s later collections serving as primary inspiration, revamping them for a contemporary feel. The women’s lineup plays on two central concepts—masculine volumes are designed with a plunging neckline, and tailoring propositions are waisted with shrunken consonances. Elsewhere, the collection’s miniskirts captivate a new meaning to power dressing, making for a modern spin. Cocoon coats are in double-face cotton echoing those seen on the runway. Pieces are infused with bold embellishments including jewel-like 4G buttons on both tailoring and flour. Iconic pieces such as the Givenchy trench are redone with couture volumes. Archives are reflected in timeless wardrobe essentials like blouses and trouser suits.

Colors are splashed with hot pink and orange to brighten up a neutral palette. Prints are done in airy transparencies and polka-dot and graphic floral motifs. Givenchy codes and savoir-faire are apparent through technical fabric developments and meticulous hand embroidery. Textiles consist of wool suiting fabric treated with resin, adding a wind and waterproof element.

Playful features exist in hand-applied flowers embellished on machine-embroidered tulle. The Little Black Givenchy Dress, a staple for the house, now comes in the form of a double-draped back dress adorned with delicately ruched silk chiffon. A fresh piece this season is a graphic lace signature, paneled together with point d’esprit tulle on evening dresses and knitwear throughout.

Men’s daywear and eveningwear are a reflection of the intrinsic elegance tied to the house’s founder, and the house’s new formality. Tailoring is paired with modernized accessories and styling, while bold colors again deviate a signature neutral-toned arrangement.

Statement accessories include the Voyou bag for women, delivered in chain, clutch, and tote interpretations with elegant practicality, alongside evening offerings in mirrored croc-embossed leather, tortoiseshell, and whimsical feather. Additionally, the Antigona family greets the new Antigona Cube: a revived silhouette probing an origami shape.

The beloved Shark Lock and Voyou are converged for a chic hybrid boot, festooned with oversized buckles. Further footwear in the collection includes Spazzolato or metallic pumps, and ballerina slingbacks adorned with Voyou buckles for a feminine finish.
