Givenchy SS27 Is for the Girls

Sarah Burton reimagines timeless dressing with an eye toward what comes next

Womenswear is ever-changing; designers must decide what’s in, what’s out, and what belongs to the past, present, and future. Trends can rise and fall faster than we can even recognize, with yesterday and tomorrow often blending together as one. For Spring/Summer 2027, Sarah Burton of Givenchy merges timeless signatures with ever-present elements of the future to create a ready-to-wear collection destined to fill the closets of the coolest girls.

Merging elements of maximalism and minimalism wasn’t something Burton was afraid of. “I wanted a sense of balance and clarity,” Burton said about the collection. “A wardrobe to bring precision and simplicity to dressing as we speed through the multiple perspectives and perpetual motion of our lives.”

Leather is a constant throughout the collection. Draped dresses, button-ups, and pencil skirts bring a sense of movement to the working woman’s wardrobe, a recurring focus for Burton throughout the collection. Denim also makes an appearance in fabulous pairs of straight-leg jeans, styled with everything from a structured white tank to a bold red blazer.

Tailored tops, asymmetrical silhouettes, oversized trench coats, bags that can’t go unnoticed, bright colors and patterns mixed with classic black, pinstripe, plaid and navy create a cohesive collection that any woman can play with. Belts, metals, ties, sparkles and masterful embroidery make Burton’s artistic direction for the collection believable, yet also remarkable.
