Creative Director Matthew M. Williams announced the Givenchy Spring 2023 pre-collection, with both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear.

In the collection, contrast is key. Sharply tailored pants, distressed denim, basic wardrobe staples, and glossy animal prints all have their moments. Like last spring’s pre-collection, dark colors make up the majority of the line, with several standout pieces providing pops of color. Crystal embellishments show off Givenchy’s craftsmanship in the women’s line, as does gradient pearl beading and textured sequin details. An archival ocelot print makes a comeback, appearing on blouses, coats, dresses, and bags.

Williams played around with sensual asymmetrical hemming and cut-outs, while also adding more masculine tailoring throughout the women's collection in the form of long jackets and wide pants. Staying true to his streetwear roots, Willams designed sweatpants with varsity lettering, contrasted by a dramatic evening gown with a silver chain halter and an open back.

In the men’s line, versatile tailoring stands out, and contrast again is key, with leather jackets, sweatpants, tailored pants, and knitwear. For accessories, the Antigona bag is reimagined with the iconic cube lock, and other models like the G Hobo and the Kenny return in a wide array of materials, from denim to calfskin to shearling. The men’s miniature carryall and Antigona Sport also join the collection.

The lock detail seen in the bags continues on to the collection's shoes. The women’s high sandal is even trimmed with a chain detail. For jewelry (and on some of the clothes) pearls yet again take center stage.
