Debuting its first collection since former Creative Director Matthew M. Williams’ departure, Givenchy has pushed the definition of gentlemanliness with its Fall/Winter 2024 Menswear show in Paris. Curated by its in-house studio, the Studio Prêt-à-Porter Homme team crafted up a collection that is a capturing of the new, modernized gentleman, taking inspiration from Hubert de Givenchy himself.

Held at the historic 3, Avenue George V salons, where Givenchy’s story first began, the collection blends both formal and casual styles, incorporating sapphire tones and the reimagined blouse blanche—a workwear staple originated by Hubert himself. Influenced by Parisian playboys, the collection is filled with daring cuts and transitions from precise tailoring to bold and intricate layers of fabric.

Masculinity and femininity are interplayed through logos of chandeliers, oversized teddy coats, and military staples. Details from Hubert’s wardrobe add dynamics, highlighting uncut shearling, cat motifs, and a graphic of synthetic, braided hair.

The accessories incorporate the house’s 2G logo on belts, necklaces, and rings, while the sunglasses and mask frames remain neutral in color. The iconic Voyou bag is just another hint to Givenchy’s utilization of naturalistic materials like shearling, buffalo leather, and velvet cowhide. To top off the looks, models are seen wearing footwear inspired by the gentleman’s slipper—loafers, derbies, mules, boots, and collapsed-heel sneakers.
