Modeling 2000s-inspired denim from Gap, KATSEYE took to the dance floor for Gap’s fall campaign, “Better in Denim.” The six-member international girl group danced to “Milkshake” by Kelis, demonstrating the effortless flexibility of the now-revitalized Long & Lean jeans which are now available in 10 washes.
“Gap continues to build on its legacy of bridging generations by spotlighting global talent and celebrating self-expression through music, dance, and denim” Mark Breitbard, Gap brand President and CEO, said. “Partnering with KATSEYE was a natural fit, we share a bold, expressive and inclusive point of view. ‘Better in Denim’ is the best expression of who the brand is today — fresh, relevant, original, and undeniably Gap.”

Fresh off the release of their “Beautiful Chaos” EP, KATSEYE is making festival appearances ahead of starting their first tour this fall. Bringing a multicultural point of view to pop music, their authentic nature was a perfect fit with Gap’s brand values of music, movement, and style. “Gap didn’t ask us to fit in — they invited us to show up as we are,” said KATSEYE. “The denim moved with us, and every look felt like our own. We got to perform as ourselves, bringing our style and culture to every frame. That’s what makes this moment so powerful.”

The campaign video starring KATSEYE was shot in Los Angeles and blended a variety of dance genres. Previous Doechii and Tate McRae collaborator Robbie Blue choreographed their dance. “Choreographing this campaign was a dream. Movement is my medium, and with a cast like KATSEYE and a track like ‘Milkshake,’ I had the space to blend styles that wouldn’t normally sit next to each other — Fosse technique, ballet, hip-hop, and jazz funk,” says Blue. “It became a dance through decades, just like denim. The clothes moved with the choreography, never against it and that freedom of movement allowed me and the dancers to tap into something bigger.”
To celebrate the collaboration, Gap is set to release a limited-edition KATSEYE logo hoodie designed in partnership with KATSEYE. The drop will be available for pre-order starting August 22.
