Grimes Wants You To Create Her Music Video

#GrimesArtKit

Grimes’ new music video for her new single, ‘You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around’, which some might say is ironically fitting in our current situation, has turned into a collaborative art project with her fans. Shooting green screen footage to create lyric videos to accompany her recent album release, Grimes realized she could not go all out with her videos as she usually does due to her pregnancy. In her #GrimesArtKit, the sword wielding musician has released green screen assets, video footage, and audio stems via a WeTransfer file in the description of her new video.

In an industry so competitive, it’s refreshing to see an artist willing to not only share some of their secrets, including software recommendations and instructions, but encouraging it. In the description of the video, the Miss Anthropocene singer wrote, “Because we’re all in lockdown we thought if people are bored and wanna learn new things, we could release the raw components of one of these for anyone who wants to try making stuff using our footage.”

“We were inspired by all the amazing art that gets sent our way, so hoping some of these things are of use when the days are long and lonely,” Grimes adds.
