Grunge Liner, Balletcore and Monochrome: 6 Spring Glam Trends
Here are some alternative spring makeup trends to elevate your getting ready game
With spring just around the corner, it’s time to give your makeup a refresh – and now you’ll finally have an excuse to buy some more. Beyond the classic peachy skin, golden hues and pastels, here are some alternative spring makeup trends to elevate your getting ready game.
A smokey eye for spring? Groundbreaking. But actually. The 90s are back, indie sleaze is having a resurgence and just because the weather is getting warmer doesn’t mean you need to ditch the dark liner. The look is a favorite of star Camila Morrone, has been featured on the runways all of fashion week and is surprisingly simple to create.
First we saw ballet flats. Then we saw leg warmers. And now, we’re seeing the newest iteration of balletcore – in makeup. Frosted cheeks, pinky hues and a heavy dose of sparkle are staples of the look, as is a bright white waterline and diffused shadow liner.
(Faux) Bleached Brows
While bleached brows have taken the internet by storm, not everyone is ready to fully commit – which we get. Instead, opt for a lower commitment faux bleached brow, which can be achieved with some concealer, setting powder and eyebrow gel.

Often as we transition into spring and summer, people opt for more simple makeup. But simple doesn’t have to mean boring, so if you’re feeling like you want to settle on an easy, day-to-day look, monochromatic makeup might be your new best friend. It works with any color you choose, and all you need is one lip or check product – a cream or liquid works best – to tie it all together.
Eye-catching Liner and Simple Skin
Another take on the smudged liner comes in this iteration, featuring a pop of color paired with dewy, subtle face makeup. The contrast between the simple skin and bright eyes works perfectly, creating a balance between fun and classic. The right eyeliner color also has the power to enhance your eyes. For blue eyes opt for copper, gold or navy. Rust, deep brown or purple pair perfectly with green eyes, and aubergine and cobalt are best for brown eyes. And for hazel eyes, opt for earthy tones like olive and metallic browns.
5 Minute Makeup
Is there anything better than makeup that takes literally five minutes? This spring, the return to a more classic wardrobe that has been seen on the runways at fashion weeks pairs perfectly with similarly simple makeup, focusing on glowing skin, flushed cheeks and light mascara.
