Some of us can remember the days when Bungalow 8, New York City’s go-to club in the early 2000s, would bring together celebrities to raise their glasses and cheer for another unforgettable night. For those who, however, were too young to witness the marvels of Bungalow 8, Gucci has recreated a one-night-only trip down memory lane to let you experience the iconic nostalgic New York nightlife.
The occasion to revive old memories arrived with the opening of the new Gucci Meatpacking boutique, which opened its doors at the beginning of April. In honor of its latest retail experience, the Italian House partnered up with Bungalow 8 founder and once queen of New York City nightlife, Amy Sacco for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transport the City back in time.
For magic to happen, Gucci adopted some of Bungalow 8’s emblematic elements and memorabilia. First of all, the celebration was held in the heart of Meatpacking, Bungalow 8’s original neighborhood; then, guests were able to enjoy bites inspired by the original Bungalow 8 menu, as well as cocktails such as Cosmopolitans; and finally, the memorable NO VACANCY sign (made famous from the original Bungalow 8 facade) could not miss welcoming the partygoers as they stepped into the club.
Daisy Edgar-Jones was seen dancing on the dance floor to the rhythm of Memphy, Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller were seen chatting with Derek Blasberg, while Idris Elba (who is the face of Gucci’s 25H Timepiece collection and a close friend of the House) was seen stepping into the DJ booth for a special set. All of this, on an astonishing vintage background–purple floors, vintage furniture sourced for the Meatpacking boutique, and pink tints to recall the store’s Demetra walls, a more environmentally friendly animal-free textile pioneered by Gucci.
Don’t miss the Meatpacking Boutique on the corner of W 14th Street and 9th Avenue in New York City. On top of 9,000 square feet of retail space distributed on two levels, you will also find an exclusive area dedicated to private appointments.
