The Year of the Snake has already been a busy one, and so we’re catching up on some important fashion news. For example, to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025, Gucci has launched a campaign starring Ni Ni and Xiao Zhan. Celebrating the Year of the Snake means celebrating transformation, and renewal whilst maintaining timeless allure. Orchestrated by Gucci’s Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, the narrative shows the fashion house’s ever-evolving aesthetic while still remaining true to its roots.
The campaign video illuminates families getting together, an intimate moment that brings warmth to the viewers’ eyes while capturing the spirit of union. Amidst the familial warmth, Ni Ni and Xiao Zhan share a moment of eye exchanges, a fleeting connection—a silent dialogue through the window that transcends words. This moment captures the intimacy of togetherness brought to life in Sabato De Sarno’s designs.
The new collection intertwines the best of both worlds: the elegance of Chinese serpent symbolism and Gucci’s iconic heritage codes. Thus, creating a fusion of cultural tradition and luxury design. The designs are a visual tribute to the elegance of the serpent, including silk Flora scarves, accessories, and signature silhouettes. The designs are available in elegant colour pairings: Gucci Rosso Ancora with pink and Gucci Rosso Ancora with blue. The snake’s maneuvers are intertwined across the pieces. Its graceful curves blend with Gucci’s GG Monogram to give a distinctive look to accessories and ready-to-wear designs.
Bridging aesthetics and generations, the campaign delicately creates a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The snake –a symbol that’s already part of Gucci’s heritage, now seen in a new light where motifs are brought to life to illuminate the human experience.
