This year marks the ten-year anniversary of the Gucci CHIME campaign, which was co-founded by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Salma Hayek Pinault in an effort to advance gender equality around the world. As part of the campaign, Gucci hosted a global concert on June 1st, 2013 entitled “The Sound of Change: Live” at Twickenham Stadium in London. Performers included Beyoncé, Florence Welch, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Raising $3.9 million to support girls and women around the globe, the event ushered in one billion viewers.

Throughout the past ten years, Gucci CHIME has raised $21.5 million, supporting over 500 projects in 92 countries and impacting 635,000 girls and women globally. Obaid-Chinoy has created a 35-video series documenting artists, activists, and organizers with the goal of convening, uniting, and strengthening the voices speaking out for gender equality. “The commitment of Gucci CHIME to amplify voices over the last decade speaks to me and my work. Each film in this new series is an important reminder of why we need to champion the voices of those who are working to create change. I hope this campaign will reinvigorate conversations around the world so that everyone feels the urgency to contribute towards creating a more gender-equal future,” Obaid-Chinoy says.

In honor of its 10th anniversary, Gucci CHIME is renewing its commitment to NGOs and grassroots organizations working to advance global gender equality. CHIME’s partners include the African American Policy Forum, the Center for Human Rights in Iran, Equality Now, UN Women, and many other organizations. Gucci CHIME and its collaborators will celebrate the campaign throughout 2023 and will keep its community updated with further news about its missions and partners.
