Gucci Debuts “Love Parade” With A Star-Studded Cast

The Italian fashion house takes over Hollywood Boulevard for a show filled with glitz and glam.

Hollywood Boulevard isn’t just any winding, touristy street in Los Angeles. Over the years, it has become a massive cultural hub for all things entertainment, film, and of course, the stars. All of these things made it a perfect location for Gucci’s Love Parade—a collection all about old Hollywood glamour and the city itself. Filled with a plethora of feathers and metallic details, the collection is nothing short of what we expect from the brand: opulent, bold and timeless.

The inspiration behind Love Parade and the show’s location derived from creative director Alessandro Michele’s mom’s career in the film industry. Looking back at her role as an assistant in a production company, Michele recalled memories of her on set.

“There was the alabaster paleness of Marilyn Monroe and her diaphanous voice,” Michele said. “There were the black satin gloves of Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake’s velvet hair, as well as the bewitching allure of Rock Hudson and Kim Novak’s dizzying transformative power. Everything felt like a fairy tale.”

When looking at Love Parade, it was exactly the fairy tale Michele envisioned as a child—and felt like it, too. It featured floor-length feather capes, satin suits, erotic jewelry and even cowboy hats that make you want to play dress-up. There was also a mix of vibrant purples and yellows, lace detailing and the iconic Gucci logo decorated over tights. Everything about it reminds you of the world of cinema, except with a sultry ‘70s vibe.

Because the collection is a reflection of the City of Angels, the runway was filled with a star-studded cast: Jared Leto, Jeremy Pope, Steve Lacy, Grace Johnson, Jodie Turner-Smith, St.Vincent, Miranda July, Phoebe Bridgers, Janaya Khan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Macaulay Culkin, and Hayden Pedigo. Other celebrities, such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Lizzo and Miley Cyrus, were some of the A-list guests in attendance.
