Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2020 Collection

Alessandro Michele presented his latest range in a fashion carousel.

Gucci unveiled a full, 60-look Fall/Winter 2020 collection, titled “The Ritual,” and while each exquisite design certainly showcased the Maison’s exceptional attention to detail, it was the collection’s one-of-a-kind presentation that caught the world’s attention. Creative director Alessandro Michele brought the backstage to the runway as each model was given finishing touches on a circular platform and spun in a carousel-like fashion, making for a raw, high-fashion spectacle. In the show’s final form, each look stood on the outer edge of the platform, opposite the House’s front row guests. Beautifully constructed gowns met wildly vivid pants and blouse combinations, all the while classic logo-embossed accessories reminded onlookers of Gucci’s long-lasting legacy.

In an opening statement, Michele poetically pays respect to the dedicated craftsmanship present in the collection: “There’s something, in this ceremony, that usually stays buried: the struggle of the parturient that accompanies the tremble of creation; the mother’s womb where poetry blooms, from shape to shape. Therefore, I decided to unveil what lies behind the curtains. May the miracle of skillful hands and holding breath come out of the shadows. May the collective intelligence that takes care of gestation be visible, as shivers rage on. May that wild and crazy hive that I made my home have a throne. Because that is the home I worship: the blessed passage through which beauty comes out of its shell.”
