The acclaimed fashion house of Guess is dropping their latest Fall 2022 capsule, Guess Originals x Betty Boop. Inspired by the similar aesthetic of Betty Boop and the classic Guess woman, the house collaborated with Fleischer Studios to bring the capsule to life. With a nod to the Guess Originals’ heritage and the iconic glamor appeal of Betty Boop, the two celebrate their shared –  long –  histories of celebrating vibrant and confident women. In a zeitgeist of youthful yet modern, the capsule unveils many progressive, light-hearted, and ready-to-wear styles. 

Carefully constructed to capture the authentic essence of the two brands, the collaboration highlights the strengths of both through predominately women’s styles. Including a 50s-inspired bowling bag, a velour sweatsuit, and a black straight-leg denim with embroidery of Betty Boop on the back pocket. The standout piece of the collection is a unisex faux leather bomber jacket, adorned with graphics of Betty Boop and lined with bright red acetate material.

The era’s notable Betty Boop character was first introduced in 1930 and was created by Max Fleischer for his “Talkartoons”  series, the world’s first animated “talkies” which Max’s company, Fleischer Studios, produced for Paramount Studios. Inspired by the collective energy, style and sound of the many popular Jazz Age flappers and entertainers of the 1920s, Betty quickly evolved from a dog-like stage performer who sang and danced into a full-fledged human character, and by 1932 she had become the only female animated screen star in the world. Voiced by Mae Questel, Betty starred in more than 100 cartoons, 90 of which are included in the official Betty Boop series, which ended in 1939. Since then, Betty has appeared in dozens of hit movies, television specials, and commercials, and was the first cartoon character to be profiled by A&E’s Biography series.

The capsule is available now in select Guess retail stores, at the new Guess Originals store in Los Angeles, and on the Guess Originals website. Pricing for the GUESS Originals x Betty Boop capsule ranges from $14 for accessories to $198 for the bomber jacket.
