Gwen Stefani Celebrates LOVE. ANGEL. MUSIC. BABY.’s 15th Anniversary

The 00’s hit pop-album has been digitally remastered to celebrate 15 years since it’s debut

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since Gwen Stefani released her debut solo album, Love.Angel.Music.Baby. A decade and a half later Stefani is celebrating the 15th anniversary with a remastered reissue. The album has been remastered by five-time Grammy nominee Chris Gehringer. In the past Gehringe has worked with Lady Gaga, Drake and Rhianna.

Inspired by the 1980s New Wave, Hip-Hop and “the world of Harajuku” Love.Angel.Music.Baby produced a string of huge hits, “Hollaback Girl”, “Harajuku Girls”, “Rich Girl” and “What You Waiting For?”. The album peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and the single “Hollaback Girl” scored Stefani her first solo number 1. Stefani collaborated with Eve, André 3000, Dr. Dre and The Neptunes on the album. “I’m very proud of that era. It was a very creative time in my life, defined by a lot of output and creative energy. I was so inspired by global culture and all of the travels that I’d done. Combining all the influences from traveling the world and sharing that through my music was a magical thing to be able to do. It still amazes me how I was able to put my love for culture into those songs,” said Stefani.

“What You Waiting For?” was the first track to drop from the album and, the Alice in Wonderland themed video was filled with so much Dior (John Gallian), it’s iconic. The semi auto-biographical track “What an amazing time. What a family. How did the years go by? Now it’s only me” was co-written by songwriting legend, Linda Perry. Perry has also worked closely with Christina Aguilera on her sophomore album, “Stripped” as well Courtney Love on “Nobody’s Daughter”.

Love.Angel.Music.Baby sold over seven million copies and was nominated for two Grammy’s, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
To celebrate the re-release of the album, the V Cover Girl will perform a medley of hits on NBC’s The Voice. Stefani is in her fourth season as a mentor on the TV show, and the episode will air November 26.

Stefani’s follow-up album, The Sweet Escape (2006) debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and the single ‘Wind It Up’ was a top 10 hit.  Soon after Stefani launched LAMB (Love.Angel.Music.Baby) an apparel line that took inspiration from Dior, Westwood, and Comme des Garçons.

The Love.Angel.Music.Baby. reissue will be available from November 22. You can revisit the video for ‘What you waiting for?’ below.
