On May 15th, Canada Goose announced the official welcoming of its creative director: Haider Ackermann.
The Colombian-born French designer, celebrated for his uniquely modern design approach and having been worn by the likes of Timothee Chalamet and Tilda Swinton on the red carpet and beyond, serves as the house’s first-ever director—signaling a bold new chapter for the label. Ackermann will work alongside Chairman & CEO, Dani Reiss, to usher in a new design approach for the company—starting with a new philanthropic campaign in support of Polar Bears International (PBI) with the one and only, Jane Fonda, captured by Willy Vanderperre.
“When it comes to the marriage of craftsmanship and beauty, there’s no one more fitting than Haider Ackermann. He intuitively understands Canada Goose as a brand apart from all others, and that authenticity, craftsmanship, and performance are the cornerstones of our brand,” says Reiss in a statement. “With his distinct ability to harness the energy and potential of our authentic heritage, I look forward to seeing his impact across our designs.”
“What drew me to Canada Goose is not only how they have created a category, but also its authentic reputation and drive to stay committed to its purpose. The impact this brand has had on the world around us is meaningful and inspirational,” says Ackermann in a statement. “I consider myself a student of the environment and my trip to Churchill lit a fire to do more and bemore. My hope is that by coming together with the extraordinary climate champion Jane Fonda, we can help drive people to act—and to do it now.”
“Collective action is the only way we can go further, faster,” says Jane Fonda in a statement. “I have put my full force into inspiring planet-friendly choices to address the climate crisis, and partnering with Haider and Canada Goose to bring attention to what’s happening in the Arctic is powerful, important and essential.”
Made of organic cotton and priced at $275 USD, the limited-edition sweatshirt seen on both Ackermann and Fonda titled the PBI Hoodie will give 100% of proceeds from the sale of the sweatshirt to PBI to help support and fund vital research, conservation strategies, and community education initiatives for the importance of protecting the Arctic.
The PBI Hoodie by Haider Ackermann for Canada Goose is now in select stores globally and online at CanadaGoose.com. Ackermann’s first seasonal capsule collection will launch this coming Fall/Winter 2024 season.
