Hailey Bieber Designs Her Dream Jeans for Gap

With two styles, six washes, and a very ’90s campaign, Hailey Bieber’s Gap collaboration is the denim launch of the summer

If there’s one thing Hailey Bieber loves, it’s a good pair of jeans. The model, entrepreneur, and Rhode founder has spent the better part of a decade perfecting a uniform built around the right pair: slightly baggy, low-rise, and feeling as intentional as it is effortless, with the Gap’s Low-Rise ’90s Loose Jeans reported to be one of her absolute favorites. This summer, she’s made that love official.

Gap and Hailey Bieber have announced The Hailey Jean, a limited-edition denim capsule launching July 16 that reimagines the brand’s iconic ‘90s-inspired jeans through Bieber’s modern lens.

Over the past decade, Bieber has developed an obsessive eye for fit, tailoring her own clothing until the proportions are exactly right. That same precision shaped the design process for this collaboration. The collection focuses on two styles inspired by the ’90s: the Extra Baggy, available in three custom washes in stores and online, and the Low-Rise Loose, also in three washes, available exclusively online. The denim itself is 100% rigid cotton, designed to break in over time, and its laid-back fit takes note from the men’s pair Bieber regularly wears and has had personally tailored to her individual style. Bieber further personalizes the collection with a “1996” detail worked into the hardware and back patch design, both her birth year and a defining era for Gap denim, along with her signature printed inside the pocket lining.

“Gap has been a part of my wardrobe since I was a kid, so this came together very organically,” said Bieber. “1996 was the year I was born and I get a lot of style inspiration from the ’90s because there was something so effortless about that era and the way people wore denim. We wanted the campaign and the collection to capture that same feeling in a way that felt modern, nostalgic, and personal.”

The campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Alastair McKimm, brings that ’90s reference to life with ultra-minimal, clean studio visuals, pairing the jeans with classic black and white Gap tees. The film, directed by Charlie Di Placido, is set in a reimagined ’90s bedroom and is soundtracked by The Cranberries’ “Linger,” bringing the nostalgia into full focus.

In many ways, the capsule is the ultimate tribute to Bieber’s own aesthetic. Beyond the campaign, she was involved in all aspects of the launch, including design, merchandising, and marketing. “Hailey understands denim in a very instinctive way; from proportion and fit to how it actually moves and wears on the body,” said Jane Pattinson, SVP and Global Head of Design at Gap. “The pieces feel effortless, personal, and very true to both Hailey and Gap.”

The Hailey Jean launches on July 16 online and in Gap stores.
