Hear Two New Carly Rae Jepsen Jams

The pop heroine just released a love-bop double hitter, “Now That I’ve Found You” and “No Drug Like Me.”

As it is wont to do, the internet hyperventilated last week when one of their anointed, Carly Rae Jepsen, teased new music. A 34-second clip of Jepsen’s new banger “Now That I Found You,” saw the Canadian treasure in an ineffective-looking poncho, her current era’s signature blonde bob mostly obscured by heavy black hoodie, and unsurprisingly left thirsty Twitter clamoring for more. Jepsen obliged, later sharing two clips of “No Drug Like Me”—a dreamy ode to healthy love-life habits that could just as well apply to her following’s rabid stan-dom.

Today, both songs are out in full. “Now That I Found You,” produced by electronica trio Captain Cuts, channels the hard synths of previous tracks like “Tonight I’m Getting Over You,” while “No Drug Like Me” down-shifts to the plaintive romance of Side B tracks like “Fever.” In a press release, Jepsen explained the songs’ pairing: “‘Now That I Found You’ is about the high you get when a new love starts to change your life [while] ‘No Drug Like Me” is a promise I made to love in general.”

Besides proving that Jepsen is as love-drunk as ever, the double shockwave of simultaneous releases suggests her forthcoming fifth album is due imminently. Until it arrives, the Twittersphere can resume gathering thirst. But as Jepsen reveals in our latest Heroes installment, on stands soon in V118, she’s never been in it for the mentions.
