Hed Mayner’s Autumn/Winter 2021 Collection

This oversized collection combines cozy with the abstract.

Hed Mayner’s AW 2021-22 collection is an array of cozy yet strange shapes and business or yacht wear made so oversized they look like something entirely new. Designed by Hed Mayner and styled by Samuel Drira, the show felt a reflection of the pandemic, void of humans but overflowing with exciting clothes.

With clear adjustments from the pandemic, there was no audience but only two models throughout the entire show. They walked to of the sound of people chatting by a busy street along with strangely syncopated beats and bass, creating a cool but strange tone. The show took place in an empty room with distressed walls and one massive light hanging in the middle with some of it’s beige and blue tones mirroring some of the collection.

The show started with strictly beige and brown tone oversized sweaters with extra long sleeves, turtlenecks, jackets, slacks, shoes, and even a flat-topped fez type geleshe-like hat. The approach to shapes with extra-long sleeves and oversized scarves makes them look cozy yet abstract. Bunch fabric boots, buckled shoes, and hoodless-hooded jackets were also a part of the collection with white, black, neutral blue, and gray taking over the second half of the show.

Ranging from relaxed yacht-like wear to business attire, to artistic cool boys, the collection is a variety of challenging and daring shapes and tones done in signature Hed Mayner manner. As the winner of the coveted Karl Lagerfeld Prize in 2019, Mayner continues to push the boundaries of the brand and what oversized clothes can be.
