A new era at Helmut Lang is swiftly being ushered in as Shayne Oliver has been on a mission to revive the iconic ‘90s brand in bold fashion. While Helmut Lang may not be presenting their show during NYFW, the brand's off-catwalk projects are still going strong. The ongoing artist series has featured the likes of photographers Walter Pfeiffer and Keizo Kitajima. Today, the latest imagemaker to join the outstanding group of innovators is Peter Hujar.

During the heyday of the ‘60s creative scene—alongside artist and activist David Wojnarowicz and writer Susan Sontag—Hujar captured the essence of the decade shooting black-and-white photography of those in his circle. Known for his 1969 series “Orgasmic Man”, “I”, “II”, and “III", his iconic images can now be seen on t-shirts and blankets. Longtim friend Stephen Koch explained the meaning and story behind each image, which is launching today on Helmut Lang Journal.
