In March, Jennifer Lopez took to Instagram to not only put us all shame while showcasing her chiseled pre-summer bod, but also to announce her role in the upcoming film, Hustlers. Since that announcement, the fall blockbuster has made itself at home in the headlines, and the additions of Cardi B and Lizzo have only added fuel to a fire of anticipation. Aside from divulging the names on the film’s star-studded roster, those involved have remained tight-lipped about the project. But after an agonizing four months of anticipation, an official trailer has been released, and it was well worth the wait.  

The action-packed trailer previews the story of six pole dancers who decide to use their “assets” to acquire the assets of wealthy white men. The risqué modern-day take on Robin Hood will follow how the get-rich-quick-scheme concocted by a pack of strippers led to their rise and, eventually, their downfall. While subjects of the film may seem rather fictitious, it surprisingly isn’t as far-fetched as one would think. The film took inspiration from an article titled “The Hustlers of Score” that appeared in New York Magazine, which chronicled the lives of actual NYC based pole-dancers.
