With 2024 coming to a close in a matter of weeks (!), it’s only proper that one must tip their hat to the music festivals that have lifted our spirits (and challenged our fits) throughout these past few months. With that notion in mind, Tyler, The Creator closed out the mainstream festival cycle in a big way, kicking off another two day festival for his Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival project which saw its 10th anniversary last weekend with over 40,000 people in attendance to join in on the fun.

Launched in tandem with the release of his eighth studio album, Chromakopia, which dropped only a few weeks prior to the festival and includes 14 tracks with guest collaborations with Doechii, Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, Sexyy Red, and more, the music festival meets carnival was hosted at Dodger Stadium in downtown Los Angeles, and delivered a mix of eclectic musical performances (with Golf Wang branded carnival games and limited-edition Camp Flog Gnaw x Converse merchandise co-designed by artist Chris Cadaver.)
With the heightened excitement of what was in store for the celebratory festival brightening up the lot of the stadium, a noticeable style trend could be spotted among all of the festival goers this year. Inspired by the founder’s style, the carnival’s attendees (and true Tyler fans) opted to go the more preppy route with their outfits, paying homage to Tyler’s off-stage style (think of slacks with graphic tees or polos, a cardigan or flannel of choice paired with caps, satin scarves and delicate jewelry, naturally) and the DNA of his Golf le Fleur* and Golf Wang brand—of which the latter’s bright yellow shopping bags were spotted just as much as the musician sneaker of choice: Converse, who happened to be the festival’s official shoe partner. From knee high options to One Stars and Star Player options and collaborative takes including Golf le Fleur’s and PLAY Comme des Garçons, there was no shortage of the brand on show-goers feet.

For anyone who devoutly listens to Tyler, The Creator, it’s been known that the relationship between the Grammy award winner and sneaker giant has been a fruitful one over the last several years. Whether spotted on the streets of SoHo in a classic off white high top Chuck Taylor or wearing his own creation front row at a Louis Vuitton show, the rapper has gone on to develop his flair for design in front of our very eyes, with Tyler’s multi year long collaboration with Converse having brought forth a wide-spanning range of sneakers and eclectic design since 2017 with its first collaborative release for the One Star shoe model.

Fast forward several years to 2024, the two forces in fashion and music teamed up once more to honor an exciting year for Tyler with the introduction of the GOLF le FLEUR x Chuck 70 Darryl model. Transforming the classic Chuck 70 silhouette, the sneaker took inspiration by the color palette of the GOLF le FLEUR* brand to feature an off-white sole that bears the silhouette of a bellhop (a nod to Tyler’s bellboy outfit) with soft textured thick shoe laces and the added detail of the signature mascot of le FLEUR*, Daryl on the side heel of the shoe.

Initially debuting the first five color-ways earlier this fall, which included the colors Dachshund, Lemon Meringue, Margarita, Milky Blue, and Orchid Petal, an additional five new color-ways—Cooling Oasis, Apricot Cream, Rose Quartz, Salsa and On TheGreens—have been introduced in a limited global release at Converse and GOLF le FLEUR* on November 14th ahead of Camp Flog Gnaw. With 2025 on the horizon, fans have much to look forward to for the next chapters for both Mr. Creator and Converse.
