Loro Piana, the beloved Italian textile house, is marking its centennial with its first-ever exhibition, If You Know, You Know. Lora Piana’s Quest for Excellence debuted on March 22nd at the Museum of Art Pudoong in Shanghai. Curated by Judith Clark, the exhibition entraps those who encounter it in an enveloping journey through the brand’s evolution from its beginnings as a family-run textile company to its current global status.

Spanning 1,000 square meters, the exhibition floods across 13 curated rooms, each designed to display different characteristics of Loro Piana’s heritage, material expertise, and creative perception. The Archive & Heritage transports visitors to the brand’s early years with rare fabrics from the 1920s, archival photographs, and original weaving manuals. In Material Innovation, Loro Piana’s dedication to sourcing the world’s finest fibers – such as Vicuna, Baby Cashmere, and The Gift of Kings Merino Wool – takes precedence.

The Maison’s technical skills are further marked in The Silhouettes, which presents 33 exclusive garments curated for the exhibition, and The Laboratory, an interactive space that reveals the science behind fabric production. Sustainability plays a crucial role in geography and sustainability, highlighting Loro Piana’s long-standing partnership with Inner Mongolian cashmere herders and its pioneering approach to responsible sourcing.

In reference to its Italian genealogy, Valsesia and Italian roots pay tribute to the brand’s birthplace in northern Italy, linking its past to its ongoing innovation. Designed for both an educational and sensory experience, the exhibition marries historical artifacts with contemporary installations, gifting viewers a multi-dimensional look into Loro Piana’s world.
