Instagram, by design, causes major envy—which some handle better than others. For the latter group comes Ingrid Goes West, a film about a girl, Ingrid (played by Aubrey Plaza), who uses social media to stalk and befriend an Instagram star (played by Elizabeth Olsen).

We caught up with Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen to talk about their respective roles in the film and the power of social media: "It was really odd to be privy to these people's worlds. Like, who is taking their pictures all the time? But I was jealous of some of the things in their apartments," said Olsen. Plaza echoed a similar sentiment; "It felt like everything I was looking at made me feel bad about myself. That can happen if you're not conscious when you're using [social media] because it's human nature to want to look at other people's lives and feel like they have something you don't."

But should you be an Instagram addict yourself, fear not; the film is not meant to pass judgement. "There's no hidden agenda," said Plaza. "It explores how humans can use Instagram as a device to further their unhealthy behavior, or not."

Ingrid Goes West is out today.
