Inside Burberry’s Playful New Collaboration With Sir Quentin Blake

A beloved world of illustration is transformed into wearable art

Burberry is bringing the world of illustration into fashion with a new capsule collection created alongside celebrated British illustrator Sir Quentin Blake. Known for his instantly recognizable drawings and decades of contributions to children’s literature, Blake’s playful visual language now appears across ready-to-wear and accessories in a collection that merges craftsmanship with storytelling.

Developed under the direction of Burberry Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee, the collaboration draws from Blake’s extensive archive as well as previously unseen artwork. Feather motifs inspired by a 1971 pen-and-ink illustration created for an English-language edition of The Birds sit alongside newer drawings of whimsical figures interacting with nature, resulting in a collection rooted in imagination and unmistakably British references.

The artwork extends across womenswear, menswear, and childrenswear, with Burberry’s signature outerwear serving as one of the collection’s primary canvases. Lightweight tropical gabardine trench coats reinterpret Blake’s feather illustrations through embroidery, printed linings, and handcrafted detailing. Each piece is finished with Burberry’s Knight label and signed with the artist’s signature on the interior.

Elsewhere, the capsule expands into printed silk separates, knitted T-shirts featuring illustrated panels, ruffled dresses, scarves, and casual jersey pieces adorned with Blake’s hand-drawn motifs. Accessories continue the narrative, with embroidered baseball caps and brushed Scottish cashmere scarves incorporating elements from the artist’s whimsical world.

The collaboration arrives alongside the opening of the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration on 5 June 2026, the UK’s first permanent space dedicated entirely to illustration. Burberry, a longtime supporter of the arts, has contributed funding toward educational programs, workshops, community projects, and inclusive initiatives that will roll out throughout the year.

The collection brings together two distinctly British institutions through a shared appreciation for illustration, craftsmanship, and storytelling, translating Blake’s beloved drawings into wearable pieces designed to resonate across generations.
