Is Taylor Swift Engaged? Stan Twitter Says Otherwise
The rumor mill is once again swirling with the news that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are engaged.
Twitter was set ablaze yesterday after Life & Style reported that Taylor Swift and her boyfriend of five years, British actor Joe Alwyn, are engaged. The pair recently took a “romantic” trip to Cornwall, in southwest England, which many think was the site of the engagement. This isn’t the first time that the internet has decided that the couple are engaged, or even married, but this time certainly has brought about the most major news coverage.
Swift, 32, has yet to comment on the rumors, but don’t hold your breath. She has famously kept her relationship with Alwyn, 30, private, save for some pointed lyrics, mostly in her 2019 album, Lover, which is fairly obviously about Alwyn (Swift is many things, but subtle is not one of them).
There’s unverified reports rollin’ around that Taylor Swift & Joe Alwyn got engaged. My theory? She got hitched yonks ago but didn’t tell anyone ‘cos y’all ruin everything. She’ll reveal it on her next album via cryptic clues that fans will decipher within seconds of its release. pic.twitter.com/o4A5vhM5jx

“I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings,” Swift sang to Alwyn on her hit song, Paper Rings. So, will she actually be marrying him? And if so, what does the ring look like? Only time will tell.
To some fans, this news is surprising, but for a different reason than you’d expect. There are plenty of conspiracy theories that Swift and Alwyn are either engaged or already married, and have managed to keep it completely private, like most of their five-year relationship has been. They point to Paper Rings as proof, as Swift wrote wedding vows in the song itself. Alwyn has also helped Swift with her songs, co-writing several tracks on both Folklore and Evermore under the pen name William Bowery.
until taylor swift herself tells me she’s engaged or married yall can keep your tabloids to yourselves. reputation era taught me better

The news came the same day that Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal, broke his silence regarding “All Too Well” and the fan frenzy that came after Swift released her Red album re-recordings in November. “It has nothing to do with me,” he told Esquire. Sure, Jake.
