It’s a heated SoCal Autumn for Marcell Von Berlin

Introducing the desert-inspired 22/23 Runway Collection with the glamour and heat of California’s Palm Springs

From the palm tree-lined pavements of California’s most glamorous desert, Marcell Von Berlin presents a collection of earthly integrity and retro Hollywood—a juxtaposition of grandeur and harsh landscape to honor the historic Palm Springs. Inspired by the city’s heated climate, the 22/23 Runway Collection merges rich, dessert hues with finely tailored silhouettes to reach a state of modern-contemporary, where nature meets luxury, and the valley meets the sky.

“Palm Springs-style has cemented itself as the perfect balance between contemporary coastal living with a touch of glamour,” says Founder and Creative Director Marcell Pustul. “With its foundations stemming from the clean lines of mid-century modern design, the designs focus on easy living in a hot desert environment, with ample sunshine during the day and cool breezes with starry night skies at night”.

Marcell Von Berlin conveys its most recent inspiration through a symbolic narrative, combining earthy prints with bold orange and cooling violet to reflect the land, the heat, and the relieving cool past sunset. Designs range from striking, timeless suits to full-bodied knitwear, a display characteristic of the city’s tie to Hollywood glamour, with the addition of an extreme summer season.

“I love how Palm Springs style is proud to be different, bold, and colorful,” Pustul says. “It is a little mod, a lot of bright and whole lot of spunk – always a combination I can get behind! Every time I travel there, I get even more inspired by the colorful combinations, poolside style décor, and tropic prints and patterns”.

Pustul picks up on the remnants of Palm Springs’ iconic 1920s glam with oversized, vibrant feathers, and references the 80s with snake print, color-blocking, and colorful leggings. Cable knit sweaters are a staple for menswear along with printed track and cargo pants, with desert-inspired matching sets to tie the arid terrain into the sophisticated heart of the collection.

“For me, Palm Springs is a mood: fun yet classy with intricate details,” says Pustul. “The desert town has been attracting Hollywood A-listers since the 1920s and the glitz and glamour from that era is still alive and kicking, which is the exact energy I wanted to embody with this collection.”

The Runway Collection will be available in October, where it will be found online and in flagship store locations in Berlin and Los Angeles.
