September is a busy month in New York. With the US Open in full swing and New York Fashion Week just kicking off, industry vets and spectators alike are flocking to the city from around the globe in pursuit of athletics and style.
While most are attending one event or the other, 24-year-old Czech tennis star Markéta Vondroušová is bridging the worlds of tennis and fashion as the newest brand ambassador to Stokholm-founded athletics label, J.Lindeberg.
Having made her J.Lindeberg debut at the US Open, Vondroušová announced her new multiyear contract with the brand and offered a sneak-peak of their pre-spring 2024 collection.
Having recently become the first unseeded woman to win the singles title at Wimbledon, Vondroušová is currently ranked number 9 in the world; she’s the perfect choice for a label that envisions itself as a front-runner.
Of the partnership, Hans-Christian Meyer, CEO at J.Lindeberg, said: “Marketa is a true game-changer, making waves and challenging the conventional. With her crafty playstyle and ability to upset expectations, we believe she is the future of tennis and fashion, and we’re very excited to embark on this journey with her.”
Vondroušová is set to work closely with J.Lindeberg’s designers on upcoming collections, citing that their “high-end fashion and athletic performance makes their tennis collections unique and trendy.” By lending her name to the brand, Vondroušová is set to make J.Lindeberg increasingly popular in the world of tennis.
