In an era where youthful streetwear has seemingly become the forte and standard of modern fashion consumption, pondering where the future of design in the industry is headed feels a bit ominous. The hunger for stripping away the high-rolling casual trend has become an apparent theme for designers and their runways this London Fashion Week, and J.W. Anderson’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection contributes in just the right manner.

In an exciting turn of schedule structure, Anderson made the decision to combine both his women’s and men’s collections together, a move that allows his ability to further connect creative cohesion and curation of an overarching vision for a single season. Stepping away from basics and simple monochrome staples, Anderson takes his garments to a new domain breeding sculpture-esque construction with compatible color schemes. A trio of modest, sleeveless dresses each identically built, but composed of a different fabrics and hues, encapsulate the range of occasions all of the ensembles could find themselves at, whether dressed up or down.

J.W. Anderson makes fashion look easy and accessible but without sacrificing the worth and personal domain he holds as a designer. He creates relevant, crisp designs that proudly sing a more valuable tune than that of overpriced hoodies and screen-printed tees. London Fashion Week has made it very clear that a door for a new wave of street style has officially opened, and J.W. Anderson is giving us plenty of options to join the movement.
