Jared Leto To Play Andy Warhol In His Forthcoming Movie
As announced via the actor’s social media.
Jared Leto has now confirmed that he will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film via his social media.
“Yes, it’s true that I will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film,” he wrote. “And so grateful and excited about this opportunity,” he wrote in his Instagram caption.
In addition to making the big announcement, the post honored the pop art icon for what would have been his 92nd birthday. “We miss you and your genius,” Leto wrote alongside a series of photos of the artist, who died in 1987 at the age of 58.
The actor was first linked to the forthcoming biopic that will be based on Victor Bockris’ 1989 book Warhol: The Biography back in 2016. Aside from Leto being both the lead actor and co-producer, the announcement doesn’t provide much more information: the only other detail available is that the film crew is slated to include Terence Winter attached as the project’s writer. Winter has previously worked as a screenwriter behind The Wolf of Wall Street and Boardwalk Empire.
